Does anyone know anything about the steroid injection given for a Pre-term labor for fetal lung development?

When i was in the hospital for pre-term labor, i recieved a steriod injection the first night and a second one 24 hours later. I was wondering if anyone else had the steriod injection? If so did it work for your baby's lung development? was your baby born early? If so, how long did they stay in NICU?
