I'm looking to move from Chicago to North Carolina.?

I need a slower pace, more affordable place to live. I have a 5 year old son and would like to be in a kid friendly town with GREAT schools. I'm a NICU nurse and would like to be within a 30 minute drive from work. Looking to live in a suburb close to a bigger city. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
