I am a young actress and am looking to audition at a local theatre near my home. On their website it says that at auditions we must do a movement improvisation and recite a monologue, but gives no other description. I know what a monologue is but not movement improvisation! I need help because my biggest dream is to be an actress and I really think that this audition could really get me headed in the right direction! Thank you! :)

My husband was very traumatized by these events and vowed after our second child that that was IT. No more kids! So this pregnancy has come as a huge surprise. Although I didn't want any more kids, I feel that we could manage a 3rd. My husband on the other hand is adament about not having a 3rd and has asked me to have an abortion. He feels that the pregnancy and all the worries that go with it (possible birth defects, etc) will put him over the edge. If he goes down we all go down as he puts it. I am confused and could use some advice. I don't think I can go through with an abortion. But I don't want to jeopordize my family either.

Santa Monica CC has the best and is in a much better part of town. It is very expensive in Santa Monica. You do need to be aware that everyone who is interested in acting comes to Southern California. The competition in the field is fierce. They will tell you what you have to take and it is somewhat different from school to school.

Problem w/ local theater, some insight?

I'm going to apologize right now for the length of this one. Okay, so the story goes my brother wqas crazy shy, but he found this little tiny theater program that put on plays in this 10 by 10 foot theater, and my brother found his love for drama in it, along with his confidance. A few more people join the theater, along with some parents, it gets a little bigger and they move to aan old movie theater, where they keep on putting on productions, the parents run the concessions and the place starts making a hundred bucks or so on every show they put on, the community is good with it.It is a volenteer program, and some realy great kids join, like my bother to find their confidance, and do. Then a pair of really creepy adults Join. The theater was started by Chuck and megan, who are very nice, but have no creep-o-meter what so ever. Creepy guy # one takes over tech stuff, and brings with him a bunch of creepy 15 year old kids who do tech as well, it starts to change the feel of the theater a little, but not bad since they were behind the scenes, problem being if you were to volenteer to do tech now, you had to pass creepy guy's assesment of you, and you haad no choice but to work with his set of obnoxious creeples. Now creepy guy # 2 shows up. He is a rich old dude, and he starts taking over concessions, what were chips and candy are now candy bar and wine. A kid is charged twice as much for a candy bar as an adult girl is. His little set of sluts starts hanging out smoking in front of the theater, getting rid of the family feel of the theater completly. Creepy guy # 2 starts calling it his theater, and now almost all of the good kids that were in the program have now dropped out because of the 2 creepy guys. Now, creepy guy #1 drops away from the theater because Chuck and megan get mad at him, taking with him the house crew, all the lights that the theater owned, and rocky. This was the first move in the right direction for the theater. Now, here is where my brother offers to run the theater for the next year, do the bills and such for them, and I offer to take over tech for them. I know this seems like we were offering to replace creeepy guy one, but our intentions are simply to help the theater, and we are not aiming for a monoply over the theater like they are. When my bro and I told chuck and megan that we would like to step in, they said yes, certainly. And we told them, along w/ several members of the community, that creepy guy needed to go, along with his alcohol and smoking sluts, and they said that they didn't think it would be that big a deal if creepy guy # 2 stayed. Now, my brother graduates highschool, and having planned on working at the theater for a year, he has nothing to do, and is somewhat up a creek with out a paddle because he had always planned on doing this. The theater is falling apart and becoming an eyesore because chuck and megan won't work on it, an dall the while I have been watching from the sidelines, and now I'm wondering what I Should do. I feel like chuck and megan might listen to me, but not if I'm a lone voice. My brother has tried to tell them about their problems too, but we aren't enough. Now I need a way to convince chuck and megan get rid of creepy guy#2 without pissing him off, because he is the kind of guy that would come back with a gun. i really do want the best for the theater, but right now they are headed for hell.What should I do?

I need advice about my 2 week old's sleeping patterns... is this normal?

The sleeping habits could be from her being separated from the mother after birth. You should eat healthy while the baby is still feeding from the mothers milk. And cokes are not very good while feeding maybe a couple a week with no caffeine. I preffer water and milk most the time. I am only 15 but my mother has had 2 more children and the had sleeping problems as well. They mostly need comfort from there mother.

the day before i was 38 weeks pregnant, i went into the hospital to get checked for dilation so i could make sure i would be safe to travel an hour and a half away from home for a baby shower. come to find out, i was in labor! i was dilated to a five when i got there and almost painlessly went from a five to an eight before i finally got the epidural. i was in labor for 10 hours...that i know of! lol my baby boy was 6lbs 2oz and 18 in long.

I need help getting my 10 months old to sleep through the night?

Ok so here's everything. My son was born at 30 weeks, 3lbs 5oz and was in the NICU for 5 weeks with no complications. He is now 10 months old and still will not sleep through the night, it's my fault because I continued feeding him at night when he would wake, now my boyfriend thinks the only method left is to let him cry it out and I'm only willing to do this as an absolute last resort. I exclusively pumped (he never caught on to breast feeding due to being in the NICU for so long) and stopped about two months ago, so now he just takes formula for preemies (recommended till he's one by his doctor) He's had rice in his cereal since 4 months because he had bad reflux and would spray milk out his nose constantly until we included the rice. So rice before bed does nothing for him. I've also tried feeding solids right before bed, as well as a bath, trying to keep a routine, etc...all the generic suggestions have been tried with no avail. He falls asleep between 9pm and 10pm, and has about two naps a day ranging from 30 mins to an hour. When he wakes up at night, he's usually just sitting up crying, i try to lay him down and pat his back but he begins to kick and thrash. Then when i try to pick him up to soothe him, he'll scream so loud and start pushing me away and kicking. I feel so bad because I don't what to do to make him feel better which is why i'd always break down and feed him. I want to stop this bad habit, but I don't want to let him cry it out, and I feel so guilty because it's my own fault for letting it go on so long. Does anyone have any suggestion possibly that could help? Sorry for the long story, but any help would be appreciated!

What is the best e-reader?

Well the kindle and nook are both great but they don't allow you to edit your own text files. If you want an e reader that will do that I suggest that you get a tablet like the iPad or the galaxy tab. If you get the eight gig one then it should be within your price range. You would have to get the kindle app or something similar and a text editing app. This would also allow you to do a lot more than any e reader.

A newborn's 'lovey' is called a 'breast.' You will find it much easier, much more pleasant for both of you, and much more protective against SIDS to simply keep your baby close instead of trying to use a blanket or other mother-substitute while the child is alone in a cage. Invest in a good sling instead of stuff like blankets and 'sacks.'

Breast feeding question?

My son is in the NICU and the nurse told me if I feed him for more than an hour he would actually lose weight than gain weight. He already lost some weight but they have him on every 4 hour feeding schedule as well. I looked online and a newborn should be eating every 1 1/2 hour to 3 hours. What should I do, do I feed him when he wakes up or wait til the 4 hour or just wake him up every 2 hours?

Leaky breast milk? Anyone else?

I just got sent home from the hospital today after my cesarean Wednesday, I've been pumping breast milk for my preemie in NICU, anyways, my nipples have been hurting, bleeding, yada. Which is normal, I bought some nipple cream, just rubbed some on, and instantly my breasts just started leaking, more like pouring down my stomach. Has anyone else experienced this? It's new to me. Why did my boyfriend do this on our first date?

So my boyfriend and I had our first date at the movies and It was really awkward because we haven't seen each other for months and we only txted each other. my girl was born at 27weeks & weighed 1lb 13.9oz :) she was in the hospital for just under two months. it really just depends on how well the baby is doing and if there is any problems. there lungs and everything still have to develop some more. my daughter is now 7 and doing just fine with no problems :) hope all goes well!!

Having Boyfriend Problems?

I have been out of school for less than 2 weeks now. As soon as school let out my boyfriend went to Texas on a trip with his dad and I haven't talked to him since. How i deal with my newborn being in the NICU?

I gave birth on Friday to my sweet baby mia. She was 6lbs n 12oz. Perfect delivery n baby. Such a life. But immediately she had to be rushed 30 mins away to a better hospital with a NICU. It has all been a rough ordeal. She had a code blue n code 99 after birth. She is.fine now meaning she is stable. But she can't swallow bc sneak has no gag reflex n she won't cough or cry. If negative we need to get her to Stanford children hospital or la or SF. So here we are. I don't sleep well. I have awful thoughts. I feel so much pain inside. I'm physically n emotional drained. N god bless her heart. N my bf he is so great but not the emotional type. We barely speak n hr doesn't open up. I'm dying inside as I know he is n I don't know what to do. I feel like an awful person or mom. I couldn't even give birth to a completely healthy child n why. Why such a precious n healthy innocent child n what's more is MY child. I feel so lost. N I can't imagine a life without her now.

A gifted writer doesn't *need* formal education, but it sure doesn't hurt. It expands your universe and improves your writing ability. Realistically though, probably less than 1% of writers can survive from their writing. You need a backup plan. Getting a college degree or learning a skilled trade will provide you the means to support yourself if writing doesn't pan out (or at least will keep you alive til your writing takes off). I exclusively breast pump and im worried my son will eat more than i pump?

My son started out in the nicu and I was not able to breast feed him there so when he got home he would not for anything latch on or swallow if he did. My pediatrician said its pump or formula because he wasn't gaining weight. So I pump after feeding him every 3 hours for 20 min on the medium setting. How do I win my baby's father back?

We were together for nearly 6 years, and had many ups and downs throughout. We are both 34 and had a child from a previous relationship.In 2008, we had our 1st daughter together, and it was a wonderful year. However, close to the time she was to turn 1, we were not getting along, as his son had made false allegations to his mother during one of his visits with her and CPS was called, and I was mortified that my ex blamed his son's mother entirely, instead of trying to get to the root of the problem and the reason why he lies. It was horrible to go through, and I was worried sick at the thought of losing my children, when an 11 year old with no marks could make such crazy allegations involving my ex, his cancer stricken father and mother, as well as myself. I was so worried that if this could be so easy for him to do, that he could say anything, and I could risk losing my daughters. However, instead of getting him counseling, he just let it go, he has always been passive, and simply blamed the mother. To be honest, if I were her, I would have done the same thing. I never liked how my ex treated his son's mother, was always very short with her, and I always felt that he should have open communication, especially to avoid something like this in the future. 2 days after the CPS incident, I found out I was pregnant, and I decided to stick it out. My daughter spent 7 weeks in the NICU, total shock and was heart-wrenching. My ex went a total of 3 times. We both are far from perfect, but he is extremely lazy. We both work full time, however, I was always the one to take care of the children, he did not help out much. We did have many good times though. About 5 months ago, I just had enough. It was like he was a boarder in my home. He would come home from work and go straight to the bedroom to watch his Spanish soaps. It felt like the only help was financial. We needed a bigger home, and very soon to closing, we had another bad argument and he left. About a month later, he asked me back and said he was willing to go though counseling, anything, because he knew what he wanted and that he loved me and wanted his family. At the time, I had been talking to an old friend, and it felt good to have someone who was so helpful around, and communicative. I am not a liar, and never have been, so I told my ex no, and that out of respect for him, I was seeing someone, very casually, but I felt he should know. Now, I feel like that may be the biggest mistake of my life. In his eyes, another man is the absolute worse thing you can do to him....he can handle anything else but that. It took a couple months, but we ended back up on speaking terms...and he admitted to me that he cried and how hurt he was and that he loved me but was not in love with me, also he was seeing someone else, but that I would never be replaceable. I was hurt, I wondered who she was. He is in law enforcement and I helped him with every single paper to earn his BA. I figured she would be this beautiful, classy woman. As soon as I found out who he was seeing, he stopped all contact-he went a month without paying any support, answering my calls, or texts, nothing. I was in total shock. She would not look at me, even though she had went to my friend's daughter's job to "relay" messages to me such as I would never get him back, and that sort of kiddie stuff. I could not believe he would condone this behavior. Even more upsetting, I recognized her. His brothers stepdaughters friend, she had been at the house one time. So, I wondered, how long had this been going on! So, to make a long story short, I am leaving a lot out. He doesn't communicate with me at all, apparently he is not allowed to. I believe she has her phone set up that when he gets an email from me, she immediately reads it and deletes it, he had his first visit Monday, I had emailed him twice and text him and asked if he needed me to supply diapers and provided the sizes. He never responded. He picks them up from daycare, as I DO work. He called me furious wanting to know their sizes, and I told him, I emailed you 2x and text you, are you not getting them? I would have gladly supplied them! This is so crazy! I get a text back, from her, I know how he speaks, saying its ok, I got their diapers. Drop off was wonderful. He pulled up with her in her car..and dropped them off in the doorway like packages. I just hate that he won't speak to me at all, the girls hve asthma and are on meds, I need to be able to have open communication with him. She apparently won't allow it. Trying to pump but nothing comes out?

Gave birth the other day at 37 weeks and 5 days. Labor was hard and it ended in me getting stitches, her being sent to the NICU for her breathing, and me not being able to see my baby for almost 48 hrs. Now I know my milk is either coming in or it has cause my breasts feel full and a lot heavier. She's having trouble eating and I have every intention on breastfeeding but nothings coming out. I tried to get her to latch on when I visited but she suckled and fell asleep after a minute. I'm trying to pump at home hoping she drinks my milk and gets better but nothing's coming out. What junior high to go to?

So I have a choice to go to a new junior high or stay at my old one. Most of my friends go to the new one including my bf and not a lot of them go to the old one. Wow 5 cm and u r at home never heard of being that dilated and not being in the hospital, there is no harm in asking the Dr about braking ur water, it depends on ur Dr's policy as to what he will do my Dr induced me for medical reasons at 37 weeks with my first and at 34 weeks with the second, I am currently 32 weeks along and I asked if I could be induced early because my husband works in a town that is 4 hrs from here and he has me secluded for induction at 38 weeks 5 days and there is no medical reason for this one just convenience so like I said no harm in asking. I am 30 weeks along and in a lot of pain and lost on as what to do. I am unable to sleep well at all at night. Why do i feel weird at movie theaters?

Whenever I go to a movie and see it late, like a 10PM showing, or a Midnight showing, I can't focus on the screen, its like my brain can't recognize the film, and then I start getting anxiety, and I feel like I'm gunna barf. Sad but true, and when can I try again??

like it says, sad but true. I was 7 months pregnant and diagnosed with preeclampsia and high blood pressure that wouldn't go down. The baby was doing great but i was pretty sick. My doc sent me into the hospital and things were going okay only my blood pressure wouldn't get any better. My placenta started coming apart from my uterus, they did an emergency c- section and the baby survived (thank god). He was 2 pounds and 9 oz. Well.... after 5 days in the NICU he passed because of a blood clot. It has been very hard but my husband and I have stuck together threw this and are taking it day by day. What I want to know is when can I try for another baby???????. I know I had a c - section 2 or 3 weeks ago but im curious. Any body have any knowledge about another baby after a c - section??????. I heard that you can get benefits for babies that are premature depending on there things. Now my son was born at 30 weeks weighing 3lbs 10oz. He has had to have three surgeries do to a blood infection (Staph) He had to have his bone cut into to remove the infection. He could have a growing disability from it they do not know and he will be having scans through out his first year to see if he does. My question is this...Would he qualified for it? I could use the money for us doctor bills. It would help out. I just want to see him anyone else has heard of this before and what is the outcome and should I even try to call them about it. How do i cope with my high risk pregnancy.?

I am 23 female I have two boys one is 5 andthe other is 2 and I am married..When my 2 year old was born they kept him in NICU for 11 days..Worse time of my life.. and since then i have had anxiety really bad..I have shortness of breath HORRIBLE thoughts some times im dizzy i have chest pains and just think the worst when i know this is all in my head..I have been to the doctor and they have elvaluated me and said i seem to be healthy inside just have very bad anxiety...Its horrible and i am tired of it! Just in Oct I lost a very close family member who i lived with and since then it seems to be worse...went back to the doctor and she again told me my heart lungs and everything sounds fine so this is where I KNOW its anxiety..I just started having dizziness not room spinning just hard to focus and of course the more i focus on it the worse all of my symptoms get...My doctor put me on zoloft and I DONT want to be on meds bc i dont want to be addicted or rely on this when i know i can get through it myself SO I HOPE...talking about it makes me feel better...so thats why i am here..PLEASE help guys anyone know what i can do to overcome this anxiety? Does anyone else have these symptoms? This is all the time or when i focus on these problems...PLEASE help! Thank you so much for listening

12 month old baby cries a LOT, very fussy 98% of the time and only will stand on tip toes?

If i try to make him stand flat food he either screams or sits down, he is very fussy most of the time unless being held. I thought maybe he is just spoiled but he isnt held THAT much. His twin sister is a very happy baby loves to smile and is taking a few steps on her own now. He is just not a happy baby and if he does smile it lasts about 4 or 5 minuets then back to fussy again. She went right home after being born and he was in NICU for a short time (a few days). Oh, he also HATES groups of people, if there is more than a couple people around he screams and nothing makes him stop except leaving to a quiet room with him or going for a walk in the stroller. Anyone suggestions?

My baby was born at 34 weeks 2 days. For a week, she was put on tube feeding. After that she began with breast and bottle feeding alternately. A week ago, I brought her back to the NICU due to her big belly (although she burped and pooped regularly). At first, the doctor told us her intestines were immature and couldn't cope with her fast growth--- she was born at 2.2kgs and was 3.3kgs after a month. She was back on tube feeding and IV, but after four days, she was back on bottlefeeding. Today, when I visited her, the doc said she didn't want bottlefeeding again and is back on tube. They can't tell what it's all about and told me they need time to observe. Has this happened to your preemie. Why can't they diagnose? I'm so worried. Please help.

Chiropractic or alternatives for handling toddler ear pain?

I took my son to a chiropractor at 10 weeks to help with colic, reflux, and difficulty getting him to sleep. I really did not think it would help but it was a miracle! I could not believe the difference in one day I met other moms there who took their kids weekly for things like you are describing. I did research and found a pediatric specialist. we had to drive over an hour to get there but I think it was worth it b/c I was scared for any chiropractor to touch my baby son. Find a Specialist and give it a try. I dint understand why you are talking about autism? Your symptoms don't really describe that...it truly sounds like an ear thing.

Are there any smart phones with traditional keyboards that flip open?

I've had a flip phone since 1998 and like being able to look at my phone and see who's calling and then answer by flipping it open, and I also typically type one-handed, so I want a traditional keyboard as well. There's a Blackberry Pearl that is a flip, but has a retarded 2-letter-per-button qwerty, which is ergonomically stupid for typing with your thumbs, and it's inarguably easier to type with one hand while not looking on 10 buttons than 20. The Blackberry Pearl 3G has a traditional keyboard, but doesn't flip. Anyone know of anything? It also needs to either have a touch screen or a track ball, as it'd be tough to navigate online w/o one of those.

Has anyone ever had a baby in the NICU who was able to?

My sister had a baby in the NICU and she was there during the day, but the hospital had a place for her and her boyfriend to stay the night. A NICU isn't set up like a regular hospital room. My son was sick for a week after he was born, but he wasn't sick enough to transport him to a different hospital with a NICU (mild persistent problem), and we stayed with him the whole time in our room. Our hospital doesn't even have a nursery-all the babies are "roomed in" after birth. The only time he left our sight was when they were drawing blood or taking x-rays or other tests and procedures. There is a world of difference than having a mildly sick baby in the hospital where you are allowed to "room in" with them and having a very sick baby in the NICU.

How can I get my baby to turn around?

I am 31 weeks 5 days and hospitalized for preeclampsia. I am going to be induced at 34 weeks which will be on April 8th. I just had an ultrasound 2 days ago and my baby is breech and sitting in a kriss-kross buda position and I was wondering if there is a way to get him moving into a head down position. I know there is still time but I do not want a c section because I want to be able to go to the NICU as soon as possible after delivery. I know babies have their own minds but any answers will be appreciated.

Preemie in NICU for 3 weeks and dad hardly visits?

I'm gonna go out on a limb and sort of stick up for the boyfriend. Not everyone is fond of hospitals, in fact some people are downright scared of them. He may have been nervous seeing the baby in the hospital in the NICU or even scared by it. Sometimes men don't show emotions well and do things differently than we would. Maybe he was even sort of "preparing" himself in case something went wrong and the baby didn't make it by not getting too involved. It seems like you are BOTH being immature. I mean why did you lock yourself in the room? Were you really afraid he was going to hurt you? Because if that's the case, then by all means, stay away from him. But if it was just a little bit of a childish act, then you're to blame a little, too. And he's right-- Just because he didn't do a good job in the first few weeks of her life does not mean that he shouldn't have any contact with her now. He is STILL her father. As far as the money situation, that sounds like a whole other conversation. If you two are going to try & work it out, you need to sit down with him and talk about money.

your local hospital should offer a class on breastfeeding...there are also many books on breastfeeding you can find a local bookstore...the internet does wonders as well for answering questions...or contact a lactation consultant and they can definitely help...i would say go for it...i have been breastfeeding my son since birth and he is 11 months old...it was a rocky road but if you have your mind set then you can do it...to start off with new born should feed off of each side for 15 mins to start with...they may fall asleep b4 that time...just try to arouse them and keep them awake...it is tru that what you eat comes out in your breast milk...my son has acid reflux so i have to stay away from acidic foods...your baby will learn how much to eat as it grows and will let you know when it is full...just be sure to switch sides after each feeding...so if u start with your left and go to your right breast...at the next feeding start with your right and go on to your left...using a pump works wonders too...it helps with that full feeling...you can check out whattoexpect.com and find helpful hints there as well to help you continue with breastfeeding! congrats and enjoy that bonding with your baby! its great!

Babies appetites change all the time. My daughter is a month old and sometimes I get her to eat 2 oz and other times she wants 5 oz. Usually formula is more filling and takes longer to digest, but if her appetite has changed I wouldn't worry :) As long as she has 6 wet diapers and 2 bowel movements a day at least then she is doing fine.

What's the LEAST amount of time i should take off for maternity leave?

I feel for you, it's tough when monetary issues get in the way of what you know you'd rather do. I work in a hospital so I can relate with your situation somewhat. No one wanted me to take time off since it meant others would have to cover my patients for me. I actually scheduled an induction at 39 weeks, went to work that day, and then went to the hospital to be induced at 8pm so that no one would have to unexpectedly cover any shifts for me. Even though the baby's head was only in the 5th percentile, which meant very little stretching and tearing for me, I still needed a few stitches. Honestly, just the soreness and fatigue from giving birth to my first child made it difficult for me to move for 3 weeks. So if you need to work, you can probably go back after 3 weeks. I had to wait until 6 weeks because I have no family nearby and daycare centers will not take a baby less than 6 weeks. You may also want to consider a home daycare instead of an institutional one. The woman I use is amazing. Even if my kids have croup or pink eye or whatever, her philosophy is that all the others have already been exposed so she still keeps them. That minimizes the days I need to take off of work due to a sick child. That's what usually angers a manager over time, when you have to call and skip work that day because of your child. As for the things you need to buy, are there stores like Once Upon a Child nearby? Even if it's in the next state and a bit of a drive, you should look into it. You can buy gently used cribs, playpens, jumpers, etc for about $25-40 each. My kids' outfits cost on average $5 apiece and I can get shoes for $3.50. And when I mean gently used, half the stuff is brand new since most parents get much more than they'll ever use. You can also look into stores that may be closing nearby. The Sears closest to us was closing down and we were able to get a Winnie the Pooh carseat with stroller and playpen for $150 all together. I also look online and compare places like Walmart, Target, Babies R Us, etc every month when I know I'll need to get something, like a convertible car seat for my toddler. The Graco Myride 65 is usually $165, but I was able to get it for $112 at BabiesRUs during a really good sale. So you gotta shop and look at the internet every few weeks and start months ahead of time to give yourself time for the sales to come about. Good luck and congratulations on your little one.

Premature Baby Sleeping at Night?

We brought home our baby two weeks ago after he spent 8 weeks in the NICU (born at 30 weeks) and is a very strong, healthy boy now...with one exception...he does not sleep at night. He sleeps during the day but at night he is up all night long. I know that this is expected with any newborn, but I was curious if anyone else, that has had a preemie, has had the same issue. NICU moms: How would you feel if you received an anonymous Mother's Day card?

Last year I made and gave a card to every mom in the NICU in the hospital I live near. I was going to do the same this year but I want to be sure that it's something that they will appreciate and not feel creeped out by. My sister has had 2 of her 3 children in the NICU and I just feel for the moms that have babies in there. I wrote a poem that is included on the card as well as a short description on the back that reads "This card was specially made for the mothers of Bronson Hospital's NICU Babies 2011 by Jessica H. who also wrote the poem "NICU Mothers" in recognition of their journeys with their children through the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit." Last year I did not include my address but this year I was thinking about adding it under my name on the back of the card in case someone would like to send a thank you note (my sister said she had another mom last year mention the card and said she'd like to send one but didn't know how to contact me) but I don't know if that would be appropriate or not. My son is almost a month old and I began pumping in the hospital, but not religiously. We came home and it was much harder to pump. My son was in the nicu for about 2wks where they bottle fed. I tried offering my breast and wanted nothing to do with it. My question is can I still try to pump again? I squeeze my breast and I see little milk come out. I would like to know how and what mothers do to produce and keep their milk? Is there still a chance for me? And how long will it take to produce alot of milk?? Thanks!

Would this be ok, giving birth abroad?

All our family are going to my fathers Villa (It was actually meant to be a small hotel, but the previous owners didn't have efficient funds to complete construction) for Christmas. All my aunts, uncles, cousins & my nana. But my fianc�es due date is December 24th. We were thinking of flying out in November, so we can get ready for the twins. And she won't be refused boarding because we aren't flying with an airline. We wanted a homebirth, but with twins we know things don't always go according to plan. But my father tells me there is a hospital literally just across the road. And I have an aunt & uncle who work as a midwive & doctor. But would it be to disruptive if she were to go into labour late Xmas eve, with Santa coming and all. This isn't 100% definate. There's still a chance my parents won't be able to go because of my brother & sister who are still currently NICU (Not for much longer). But my mother has spoken with the doctors and they they are 80% they should be able because they really are strong babies, especially considering how early theh were born.

A few questions about breast feeding?

most women produce 4-6 ounces once their supply is established. You will know if you are engorged! It really hurts and you may have clogged ducts (you will feel a lump) and your breasts will be heavy. Pumping will help relieve some pressure but be careful of pumping to much as you can make your body produce too much milk (over supply). Finally, you loose weight from nursing since your body is using some of the fat you consume to produce the milk. You will burn about 500 calories a day if you are nursing so you can lose weight that way. As far as diet goes, you can watch what you eat but make sure you get plenty of water and protein since your body needs these things to make milk. If you cut them out, you will loose your supply.

How can I be myself, more next year?

At school I always feel trapped, in a shell, like I'm never myself, I mean its because I'm shy... but I want to see how I can be more outgoing and talkative, at school I'm like a completely different person, I'm shy and quiet it bugs me because I'm only like that there. I have friends, quite popular ones actually, but I still feel trapped, like last year I stopped myself from joining Theatre Arts because it was onstage I can sing and act, but no one even knows that because I'm not open. I don't know whats wrong. I just want to be ME, this year.

Ive been with the father) of my daughter for over 4 years.We were broken up when I found out I was pregnant because he was claiming he was following me.I tried to work it out.While he has been faithful about doctors visits and now faithful about visiting her in the NICU,he is not being responsible for her financially.My mom and I have spent hundreds of dollars on all the things she needs.Dad,maybe $100.We had decided to find a place together and had been looking for months but due to his bad rental history it has been exteremly hard.I finally found a place that I could get soley in my name,all he had to do was pay half the bills.My parents even agreed to pay part of the rent because it was more expensive that we had agreed upon.My parents even went out and bought us furniture.Then the day before we were going to move,he decides hes not ready.So Im tired of having the father of my child refuse to be finacially responsible.Ive decided I want to move 2 1/2 hours away to be with my parents.I can go to school and have a better life for me and my daughter.My ex signed the birth certificate.At the time I was thinking,well just in case I ever need to get child support.What I didnt think about was Im giving him power over the future of her.I know he will try to get custody,partly because he loves her but mostly out of controll.Hes already imposing on my time in the NICU,an excuse he uses as to why he can no longer work overtime to prepare for her homecoming.Hes even planning to take advantage of the overnight family room so that he can stay in the NICU all night.My biggest fear is that he will try to take her home from the NICU.Can he do that? My Mom says she can only be discharged to me,but he is the father.Reasons why he shouldnt get custody:Hes 43(almost 44),lives with his mom along with his other 3 brothers who my ex admit all actively do drugs.My ex is an ex cocaine user,clean for over a decade but still.Ive had to call the police myself on him in the past due to threats.He also has a record of communicating threats/intimidation.Also assualt on a female 20 years ago.He cant seem to find a place to live himself.Though I might also be living with my parents soon while Im out of work taking care of her upon discharge.Im also breastfeeding.Im NC,any advice?

Newborn with fluid in lungs?

My best friend had an emergency C section yesterday morning. She had high blood pressure at the end of her pregnancy, but otherwise everything had been normal. She's doing fine, but her son has fluid in his lungs and was transported to another hospital (Mayo Clinic). Apparently, he's not doing very well and, from what I was told, things could go very badly. I'm wondering what would cause this to happen. How serious is it? Could she lose him? And how long after her surgery until she's able to go to the hospital he's is at? Why would they need to switch him to another hospital instead of putting him in the NICU at the hospital he was born? I live half way across the country, and if something does go (more) wrong, I'll be flying back home to be there for her. Any information you have would be great. Thanks.

Would medicaid cover the cost of prescription to increase milk supply?

I'm having to exclusively pump because my daughter was in the nicu for 10 days and now wont latch on, (although we are still trying!!) I'm pumping every 2 hours around the clock and still not getting enough milk for her to make it through the day. (I built up a freezer supply before she could eat at 8 days old). Anyways I've heard there are prescriptions to help but we are very broke right now lol. would medicaid cover it? Also i'm taking fenugreek and drinking lots of water. any other suggestions? Does mothers milk tea help? how long does it take to help?

Nurses behavior with patient?

My little cousin was 6 months pregnant and was bleeding profusely and started to have contractions. She's went to the hospital and started to bleed again. The nurse's station was buzzed and entered two nurses. Her robe was very bloody and needed changing..this is where it gets appalling...the two nurses argued over changing her robe; as if they didn't want to touch her nor change the robe and they both walked out of the room. The station was buzzed again, and after waiting 10 mins...walks in the doctor. They gave her an emergency c-section and we were informed that she needed a blood transfusion. I didn't like the conduct of the nurses. To my knowledge, she doesn't have HIV or anything, but I'm not too certain. Other than the health of my cousins, my other concern is with the two nurses behavior, what would cause them to act that way and not to want to be near her? I mean it was pretty bloody, but that's what happens when you have a baby. The baby is said to be doing ok in the NICU but she will need close observation. I'm appalled by their behavior and wonder what should we do about it?

Can I start pumping/saving my milk?

I just tonight realized I'm starting to produce colostrum. I'm 5 months pregnant with twins. Is it a wise idea to start pumping and saving the milk and colostrum? I want to get an early start with the breast milk just in case they have to go to the NICU and I will not be able to feed them myself. The only reason I worry about that is because I had my son 10 months ago and he was 4 weeks early. My doctor told me most twins come about a month early and since my son was so early it puts me at greater risk of my twins coming early. If I start pumping within the next few days will that increase my milk production?

I start college this fall, and I'm worried and scared. What can I do?

If you're worried about paying for college, also try some scholarship search engines like fastweb.com. These feelings are totally reasonable (I'm nervous for college too, and you're situation definitely makes your concerns understandable). Also, maybe call your financial aid adviser or someone in the financial office and see if there's a way for you to get more aid. They'd be more willing (hopefully, it depends on the school) to give you more money if they completely understand your situation. Also there's thing you can do with business or something that can make money that can integrate your love for music and theater. Musicians still need accountants etc. Or financial advisers. If you're a sound engineer you can still work in the theater or music industries. Just because you major in Business doesn't mean you're restricted to a cubicle, even though that is a stereotype. There are fun jobs out there that a lot of people don't know about and you'll just have to look into that and find them.

She's more than likely going to be there until June. I'm going back to school in May until she comes home and I'm on maternity leave for 6 weeks and the time is going so slow, it's killing me. If you were in that position in the past, how did you deal with the time before your preemie came home?

Odd colostrum leakage: what's up?

I had to stop breastfeeding my son because I ran dry while he was in the NICU. He hasn't had breastmilk in almost three months, and yet I noticed today that I'm producing colostrum again but I'm not pregnant! What gives??

My daughter is 2months old but was born 6 weeks premature.?

She is on an apnea monitor to monitor her heart rate because when she was born she stopped breathing for a few seconds while eating or sleeping. She is not 2 months old and the past month has been great & we have had no alarms until 4 days ago..4 days ago I took her to the emergency room because the patches that go against her skin for the monitor were eating at her skin..They ended up sending her home..Once we arrived home she started having apnea alarms for not breathing..We have dealt with that before when she first came home so we just watched her closely. Around midnight that night my husband and I layed down to go to bed, I was just about to fall asleep when my daughters apnea alarm went off for her not breathing. My husband and I rushed over to her crib and she was pale. She finally started breathing again after about 30 seconds but she was unresponsive..We tried saying her name, rubbing her feet, blowing lightly in her face, holding her...&& nothing happened..she would not move at all..My father rushed in the room and as soon as he saw her he yelled for my brother in law to call 911. Once the paramedic arrived he took my daughter from me and pinched her foot..that was the first time she moved but she would not wake up or make a sound. On the way to the hospital I was with my daughter in the ambulance and the paramedic gave her a shot in her foot to check her sugar and when he did she did not even cry (thats not normal for her..she usually screams her head off when getting a shot) all she did was make a sad face. The paramedic was then worried because he said thats not normal at all, which I already knew. Once we arrived to the hospital she because responsive..She woke up, cried, all that stuff. They did some blood work && some chest and abdominal xrays..The blood work showed that her potassium was low && the xrays came back good. My husband and I made the decision to have her transferred to Ohio to their childrens hospital. Once arriving there, they ran some tests such as a urine test, blood test, EEG, Brain Ultra Sound, and an MRI. The blood test, urine test, eeg & mri all came back normal, but they said that the ultra sound showed a spot of blood on her brain...they said she has had it since birth and that it has not changed at all (my husband and I were never told about this blood on the brain at birth while she was in the nicu). 3 different doctors were telling us how the blood on the brain was the exact same size as it was when she was born and that they were worried because it had not shrunk at all. They said she was a grade 1 of 4 which is the best to have. They said blood on the brain is normal for preemies and that it could go away, it could get larger, it could get smaller ... it could do anything... The next day the doctor tells us that the radiologist read the report wrong and that she does not have blood on the brain. I am happy to hear she does not have blood on the brain but doesn't that seem fishy that they told me everything about the size of the blood and everything and then tells me they read it wrong? They send my daughter home because they found nothing wrong and she is back to being herself. My husband and I are at a dead end on what to do. I want a second opinion. They told us what happened to her could or could not happen again, they dont know...This is my 2 month old baby were talking about..I am a new mother...Has ANYONE ever heard of anything like this?

I'm a Military wife, my husband and I recently had a baby who had to stay in the NICU, before we got to enroll our new baby into DEERS, he died. We didn't even have insurance for him, so his funeral came out of our pockets. Is there any way the Military can reimburse us? (We didn't get to enroll him in DEERS, because i had the baby in North Carolina while my husband was away, so he didn't get to sign the Birth Certificate right away, which is a requirement for DEERS, and we had just got stationed at Ft. Carson, but our son had to stay in the hospital in N.C., by the time they mailed the Birth Certificate to Colorado, we had already been back to North Carolina to have our sons funeral.)

In a 2007 episode of "How I Met Your Mother" called "Stuff", two main characters, Robin and Ted, are sitting in Robin's apartment. Was your baby born at 35 weeks? (or less?)?
